Nanocut Plasma-Etched Diamonds: A New Technique to Enhance Fire
Enhanced Diamond
Plasma etching, which was developed at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena. This method etches microscopic diffraction gratings on selected surfaces, usually a diamond’s pavilion. When observed in spot or mixed lighting environments, the diffraction gratings separate light into its spectral components, which increases the amount of fire seen in the diamond. These stones are being marketed as Nanocut plasma-etched diamonds.
