GA now has banner advertising available for qualified and legitimate businesses who pass our strict guidelines for the trade, basically the same as those from the FTC and JEA. All proceeds go to the maintenance, costs of keeping this website running, i.e. web space, bandwidth, domain fees, etc., and for future upgrades and growth. Because of this we do not need to ask much in the way of advertising fees per month to display your ads. This works out well for both parties.
. Use the Contact Us page to email us for details. We also have low cost banner creation services for you if you do not already have advertising banners at your disposal.
Now, this article is going to be a bit technical, no choice, but I promise to keep it in as simple of terms as physical possible! Now, I am sure by now all of you are thinking something along the line of, ‘What the heck does monitor calibration, internet browsers, and color profiles have to do with gemstones and for that matter what are they!!??”. Gemstone Photography, this seems to be a constant area of debate amongst the gemstone and jewelry community. Sadly, most of the information that gets relayed in these debates is just incorrect and misinformation. My goal with this article is to try and straighten out a few of the larger misconceptions and misinformation be spread around. Photography and its techniques and secrets used to be known and done only by a few that had the skill to succeed and those who could afford the equipment necessary. With the advent of the super affordable entry level digital SLRs, like the Canon Rebel series(XT, XTi, XS, XSi, etc.) and Nikon D40/60/70/80, photography became far more widespread and adopted as a hobby and a “business”. I would like to proudly announce the going live of our gallery of gemstones and gemstone materials. It is not entirely completed but is well on its way and more content will be added as the images get finished. Our goal is to provide an online reference guide for collectors, jewelers, gemologists, etc. of gemstones, jaspers, agates, telltale inclusions for both natural and treated materials, crystals& rough, as well as cut & finished pieces loose and in jewelery. We believe that this would be a very useful tool to double check identifications and the like so correct and better and more thorough IDs can be made. We hope you enjoy the gallery as well as find it a useful tool.
A special thanks goes out to Astynax, because without his contributions and hard work this project would have never come to be! He has spent a lot of time and put forth a lot of effort to bring this project to life and deserves a large kudos from everyone! So please drop by the forums and give him a big thanks for all his hard work!

Sorry for the lack of updates and some of the new stuff from the AGTA, GIA, and other labs. We are in the process of a physical move to a new location and setting up a business storefront as well. So, I just have not had the time to keep up with everything. But I promise as soon as we get done moving and setting up I will get the Seller lists all up to date as well as get some of the more recent news in the gemological community added here!
We have finally updated the Unsafe Vendor List. We have the Vendor’s name and link followed by a brief description as to why we feel they are unsafe. Read more…
Welcome to Gemddicts.com. Our goal is to help consumers, collectors, and even other professionals with gemstones, gemology, lapidary, and jewelry questions. We are also here to provide a list of vendors that are safe to shop with as well as a list of those not safe to shop with. We even review and include Ebay vendors too! We are here to mainly help you, the consumer, become better educated about gemstones and jewelry and protect your interests when we can. We are also here to help Professionals become full disclosure vendors, meaning strict adherence to the FTC Guidelines, as this not only benefits you but also protects the consumer as well. We are a group of Professionals, collectors, rock & mineral folks, Gemologists, Lapidarists, metal smiths, wire artists, beaders, etc. that have all gathered together to do our best to help educate anyone and everyone about gemstones, rocks, minerals, and jewelry. Please visit our Forums and join the community.
