Gemstone Photography: Fact and Fiction

October 26th, 2009 1 comment

Gemstone Photography, this seems to be a constant area of debate amongst the gemstone and jewelry community. Sadly, most of the information that gets relayed in these debates is just incorrect and misinformation. My goal with this article is to try and straighten out a few of the larger misconceptions and misinformation be spread around. Photography and its techniques and secrets used to be known and done only by a few that had the skill to succeed and those who could afford the equipment necessary. With the advent of the super affordable entry level digital SLRs, like the Canon Rebel series(XT, XTi, XS, XSi, etc.) and Nikon D40/60/70/80, photography became far more widespread and adopted as a hobby and a “business”. GemAddicts Gallery Goes Now Live

September 28th, 2009 1 comment

I would like to proudly announce the going live of our gallery of gemstones and gemstone materials. It is not entirely completed but is well on its way and more content will be added as the images get finished. Our goal is to provide an online reference guide for collectors, jewelers, gemologists, etc. of gemstones, jaspers, agates, telltale inclusions for both natural and treated materials, crystals& rough, as well as cut & finished pieces loose and in jewelery. We believe that this would be a very useful tool to double check identifications and the like so correct and better and more thorough IDs can be made. We hope you enjoy the gallery as well as find it a useful tool.

A special thanks goes out to Astynax, because without his contributions and hard work this project would have never come to be! He has spent a lot of time and put forth a lot of effort to bring this project to life and deserves a large kudos from everyone! So please drop by the forums and give him a big thanks for all his hard work!

Sorry for the Lack of Updates.

July 23rd, 2009 No comments

Sorry for the lack of updates and some of the new stuff from the AGTA, GIA, and other labs. We are in the process of a physical move to a new location and setting up a business storefront as well. So, I just have not had the time to keep up with everything. But I promise as soon as we get done moving and setting up I will get the Seller lists all up to date as well as get some of the more recent news in the gemological community added here!
